With the theme “Filipino: Wikang Mapagbago” college students enrolled in Filipino subjects under Mrs. Allen Amarilla joined in the national month−long observance during a special chapel convocation on Monday, August 7, 2017.
The program had two parts – the first one a devotional wherein John Mark Consular, a BSEd−Biology student gave a message on the origin of different languages.
The second part kicked off with the audience singing familiar Filipino folk songs like ‘Leron, Leron Sinta,’ Bahay−Kubo,’ ‘Paru−parong Bukid’ and ‘Si Felimon.’
The highlights of the chapel convocation was a ‘balagtasan’ entitled “Edukasyon o Kayamanan.” Two groups debated which is important – education or wealth. The segment was followed by “Tugtuging Pilipino” rendition of Filipino music using different native instruments by select music students.
Lastly, Excellent Gilbuena and Leah Mae Villaruz, both Education students, hosted a game named ‘Word Taboo” which was participated by representatives from each school.
